A Thank You to My Pastors!

Today as I was returning from church I was trying to decide what to go home and eat.  I knew what I had already prepared but suddenly I knew it was not what I wanted.  Besides, it was leftovers. Leftovers are good sometimes but I’ve been eating that same soup the entire week.  (You do things like that when you live alone and don’t like to cook!) I called my sister but didn’t get an answer so that left me to fend for myself.  I kept wondering and thinking, “what am I going to eat?” I thought of all the places in my little town that I could go to but ruled them all out because I was tired of the same old things all the time.   I finally came home and ate the leftovers.
Unfortunately that’s exactly what some have to experience in various church services. They’re either getting the same thing over and over or it’s just not satisfying leaving them totally unfulfilled. Some services are lacking the necessary nutrients essential for strength and growth. The sheep are left weak and hungry which means they either become sickly or easy prey for the enemy.  Some will begin to look for other pastures to graze in or become cranky like a hungry baby which leads to continual whining  and complaining. Good food is essential for a good, strong, healthy flock.
I’m not bragging on New Life Covenant Ministries (well maybe I am) but I can never thank our Father enough for the way that our pastors feed us with the word of God.  As a child I would always love the food my mother, grandmothers and aunts would cook.  My husband would totally spoil me with something different and succulent that he cooked every day and holidays were beyond words!! There was nothing to compare the taste of my husbands food to.  When my sons would come home on leave they would call ahead to make request for his jambalaya, barbecue chicken and potato salad.  They would always, and still do, make the special request for my sister’s bread pudding. I can almost smell the butter! My mother‘s and grandmother’s food was so good and everyone knew they could come to our house, my parents and husband’s for an excellent meal. There was always more than enough of everything for everyone. There was always enough meat, drink, bread and something sweet.
So what’s my point? The spiritual food at New Life Covenant Ministries is always enough for everyone. You can depend on it always being good, fresh, and healthy.  Even when we have leftovers there’s nothing like it. Once I heard one of my pastors say that she was sharing a message that she had preached before.  Leftovers never taste so good! From time to time God will lead our pastors to feed us through a series extending over several weeks on a particular topic or subject like our Wednesday night Bible Study or Sunday School services.  Although it may be the same subject from week to week, it’s still always fresh, different and fulfilling.  I love it when they’ll bring in guest chefs.  Someone different to feed us on a Sunday morning. It’s during these times that we’re fed a different cut of meat or a portion of the leg that was just for us (I Samuel 9:24). Good meat and fresh the way it’s supposed to be seasoned and prepared to perfection just for the sheep. The spiritual food is healthy, nourishing and vital to the growth and maturity of the sheep.  What an awesome place to eat every Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights!
Pastor Duke and Sharon Chance, Pastor Lamar and Cassandra Toulouse, all of our teachers, David and Therese Duvall, Todd and Deana Metzger, Pastor Steve Lee, Pastor Eldredge, Bro; Terry and Sis. Lenore Seabrook, on behalf of all of us at New Life Covenant Ministries, thank you for feeding the sheep the way you do.  Someone is saying, but I thought Pastors Appreciation was last month? It was! However, since my pastors either feed me personally themselves or see to it that there is someone else there to feed me every service, every month including Bible Study, Sunday School and Sunday Morning Service, I think I can give them a true, love filled thank you for more than just Pastor’s Appreciation.  Thank you Pastors and leaders for the way you love, feed and take care of your sheep!

There's no flamboyance for the ego or services without seeking the Master Chef, God Almighty Himself, with the flow of the Holy Ghost being poured out. What an awesome place to eat every Sunday morning and Wednesday nights!
